We are excited to present our commission by artist Eleni Wittbrodt, which we will host in our shopfront window at our Outerspaces venue, located at 173 Trongate in Glasgow. The work is accompanied by “A Reader for the Govan Graving Docks”. It is part of Riverside Topographies I, a collaborative research project undertaken by 16 Collective and the resident artist Eleni Wittbrodt from 2024 to 2025, working with communities in Govan. This long-term project aims to connect artists with communities along urban waterways to envision more equitable and democratic futures for these sites.

About the event:

This iteration features exhibitions of our moving image and photography commission by Eleni Wittbrodt. Their photographic work and our collective research — from speculative sculpture designs for a reclaimed riverbank to reflections on Govan’s ties to military and aerospace infrastructures — have been compiled in a new publication titled “A Reader for the Govan Graving Docks“, available for sale at the event.

A key component of the project involves collaboration with the CCA Seed Library and our Govan Camera Club members, initiatives led by Wittbrodt and Młyńczak and based at Elder Park Library during the summer and autumn of 2024.

The exhibition will be on view at the premises and in the window of the old Housing Association shopfront at 173 Trongate, Glasgow, on the ground floor, portion of it visible from street level.

• Please note that there will be no access to the loo outside of opening hours. The nearest accessible one is at St Enoch’s Centre (approx 5 min walk).
• Please note that there is no Changing Places facility on site. The nearest one is also at St Enoch’s Centre (approx 5 min walk), equipped with a hoist, changing bench, alarm, and ample space.
