GSA Degree Show Prize
We proudly present Kleeman’s @charlikleem installation, What If You Regret It?, selected from the Glasgow School of Art’s 2025 Degree Show. This work was created as a response to ongoing strategic removal of trans rights in the UK, reflecting on themes of bodily autonomy, DIY hormone production, bio-hacking, and the need to perform dominance to survive.
Charli Kleeman is a Glasgow-based multimedia sculpture artist working in metal, ceramics, and wood.
Their work centres around the concept of Trans-Hypermasculinity, where transmasculine people embody hypermasculine traits in radical ways, both reinforcing and dismantling them. This idea emerged from research into Scottish deer stalking and its presentation as an ethical form of violence.
The sculptures reference hunting equipment, 18th-century laboratories, and the endurance of prey animals. Craft is central to the artist’s practice. Imperfection is accepted, and materials are chosen for their resistance.
On show in 16 Collective’s 173 Trongate shopfront window from 17th September to 8th October.
