Artists

Kate Holford is an artist and writer based in Glasgow. She is interested in stories and affects of desire, violence, melancholia, and memory, and the ways image-making can express and  manipulate them. She is particularly interested in the political potentials of fiction, and of  psychoanalysis. She works with painting, installation, drawing, photography and writing. Her work was most recently exhibited as part of In Every Shadow at BlackShed Gallery, East Sussex (2024).

She has often explored themes of extraction and landscape, such as in her hybrid research and publication project Dear Lithium, (2020). She is currently collaborating with artist Pippa Thomas on a research project considering gender and ecological collapse, which will culminate in a public output supported by 16 Collective, Glasgow in early 2026.

Since 2025 Kate has been the Curator and Co-Director of Boardroom Committee Room in Govan, Glasgow. She has worked as an independent curator supporting artists across Glasgow and London, and as a programmer within numerous interdisciplinary organisations. She was the Founding Art Director of Stillpoint Magazine from 2018-2022, a digital publication grounded in anti-oppressive psychoanalysis that curated and programmed interdisciplinary scholarship and art.
