Kika Sroka-Miller is an artist, writer and publisher based in London, UK. Their artistic practice involves interrogating fantasy and explicitly playing with ideas of pleasure and unease. Kika is the founder of Blue Parlour, a network for artists and professionals whose work deals with sex, sexuality and the erotic, and the host of Theory/Cake, an artists’ salon mixing philosophical discussion and kinky play. From 2010 to 2020, Kika was Director of the political publishing house Zed Books. Zed Books housed the works of notable writers including Eleanor Roosevelt, Nawal El Saadawi, Assata Shakur, Maggie Nelson, Fidel Castro and Yanis Varoufakis, among others. Currently enrolled at Turps Painting School for 2023/24, Kika is focussed on developing their painting practice. Kika’s work is political, they believe that desire kick-starts personal and social change and imagine queerness beyond individualised, liberal notions of identity and orientation, instead seeing it as a collective and political potentiality of emancipatory passion and desire.
