Pippa Thomas is a visual artist based in Glasgow. Her practice focuses on ecology – nature’s resilience and human acts of violence/degradation – as well as historical and contemporary entanglements with womanhood and gender. Drawing, mark-making and recycled material investigations are the foundation of her visual work, with imagery drawn from remembered and imagined forms.

Pippa’s practice often extends into collaborative, research-led and community-based contexts. In 2024, she co-founded Two Isles with ecologist Dr M. Bane, an ongoing project addressing creative and artistic agency in ecological action. Through this partnership, she has delivered workshops and public events for organisations such as the NHS, Design Hopes and The Goethe-Institut. Pippa also works as a Studio Assistant at The Glasgow School of Art and tutors with a community art group in the south of Glasgow.

From November 2025 – February 2026, Pippa was artist-in-residence with 16 Collective alongside artist Kate Holford, exhibiting a body of new work in a duo exhibition titled Death by Landscape (31/01 – 07/02) at 16 Collective’s 173 Trongate gallery. Reckoning with landscape and bodily forms, the exhibition reflected on gender and ecological collapse, and the ways in which violence and extraction have historically – and continually – been enacted on women and the natural world.
